This year, when respondents were asked if they had fallen in love at first sight, 40% says yes, compared to 71% in 2011. Almost 47% of respondents said they had never had love at first sight, compared to 22% in 2011. And 13% of current respondents said they were not sure if they fell in love at first sight vue, compared to 8% of respondents in 2011.

“The feeling of falling in love at first sight tends to be a trance state where we see ourselves in each other,” says Dr. Jenni skyler, resident sex therapist at Adam & Eve. “It’s a huge shot of dopamine and adrenaline, which can sound super alluring, even if it ultimately doesn’t manifest in long-term intimacy. I guess these numbers reflect the decline in general optimism that knows our culture. “

“Adam & Eve encourages adults to explore their sexuality within their own limits and comfort levels,” says Chad Davis, Marketing Director for Adam & Eve. “We are happy to provide options and accessories for every stage of the relationship.”

The online survey, conducted by an independent third-party survey company, of more than 1,000 American adults aged 18 and older, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
